This year, the 22nd to 26th June marks Injury Awareness Week. This campaign is run by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), a non-profit organisation who seek to improve legislation and justice for those who have been injured as a result of the negligence of others, as well as improving the legal expertise of personal injury lawyers.
Every year around half a million people are injured by someone else’s negligence. This may be the result of anything from a road accident to a workplace incident. At GWCA Solicitors, our Personal Injury team are keenly aware of the impact these events can have on someone’s life.
We understand that a person’s quality of life may be profoundly changed as a result of someone else’s negligence, and it is of great importance that they are provided with appropriate redress.
The campaign has two main aims:
- To improve awareness of injured victims of negligence.
- To improve policymaking around the rights of victims of negligence whose lives may have been completely changed through no fault of their own.
Working for fair redress
APIL’s campaign is reminder that those who have been injured through no fault of their own are some of the most vulnerable people in our society. APIL aims to:
- Promote full and just compensation for all types of personal injury
- Promote wider redress for personal injury in the legal system
- Campaign for improvements in personal injury law
- Promote safety standards and alert the public to hazards
- Provide a communication network for its members
- Promote and develop expertise in the practice of personal injury law
Our Personal Injury team see the impact of injuries caused by negligence and see the value in APIL’s campaign. Victims of negligence deserve the right to just compensation for their injuries and for adequate standards in society to prevent negligence from happening in the first place.
Working with you
At GWCA Solicitors we seek to obtain the best possible outcome for you if you have been the victim of negligence. We will work with you to understand how your life has been impacted and what you require in order to return to the standard of living you experienced before the negligent incident.
This includes seeking to obtain redress such as:
- Monetary compensation – the general rule is that compensation should return you to the position you would have been in but for the negligent act causing your injuries. Compensation will cover things like loss of work earnings, paying for medical bills and medication.
- Medical treatment – where appropriate we will seek for the negligent party to pay for ongoing medical treatment and arrange for you to see a specialist for your injuries.
No Win, No Fee – Access to justice for all
APIL’s campaign highlights the importance that everyone should have access to justice. The cost of legal action can feel daunting and may result in people not pursuing the redress they are fully entitled to. That is why we offer no win, no fee services for Personal Injury claims.
No win, no fee means:
- You do not pay any upfront legal fees
- You will not have to pay our legal fees if your case is unsuccessful
- If you win your case, our fees are usually paid from the other side
- All our terms will be discussed and agreed upon at the outset of your case
